REGISTRATIONS DUE FOR RODEO CAMP ON MAY 9, 2015

Area rodeo fans who are interested in learning more about the sport of rodeo are reminded that registrations are due for the free Championship Rodeo Camp in Gerry sponsored by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association as the event is only a month away and available openings are limited.

The camp is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, from 9:00 to 2:00. It is one of only 13 such camps nationwide and is available to anyone eight years old and up at no cost. These camps are designed to promote the sport of rodeo and are geared for beginning youth and for cowboys just starting out who want to learn the fundamentals taught by PRCA champions. Topics covered include chute procedures, livestock safety, injury prevention, and fitness and nutrition. There will be no live buck-outs.

To register for the camp, go to the Gerry Rodeo website (www.gerryrodeo.org) and click on the Free Rodeo Camp posting at the top of the page. This will open the Camp news release and several paragraphs down will be a direct link to the registration form.

Activities will begin at the Fire Hall near the stoplight in Gerry and move to the rodeo grounds. The event will be held rain or shine with a free lunch provided. Any questions can be directed to the PRCA Camp director Julie Jutten at (719) 528-4729 or locally at 985-4215 or 969-4488.

The 71st annual Gerry rodeo is scheduled for four performances, Wednesday through Saturday, August 5-8 and will again feature more than 125 professional cowboys and cowgirls competing for $45,000 in prize money in the seven traditional rodeo events. Additional information is available at the Gerry Rodeo website or by phone at (716) 985-4847 0r 1-888-985-4847.
